The International Break is finally over and we can get back to watching our favorite football leagues. The one everyone is excited about is, of course, the Premier League. Football fans all over the world are surely eager to have coach Mourinho back in the league. Even though his football style is frowned upon, the controversy and craziness he brings with him is always appreciated. As a matter of fact, Tottenham are playing the first match of the round. That means we get to see Mourinho in action early on Saturday. Additionally, this round will bring a fantastic derby fixture between Manchester City and Chelsea. However, more about that below, in our weekly Premier League predictions.
West Ham United vs Tottenham Hotspur >> click here for live odds
The opening fixture of the 13th round brings us two teams that are in a bad position right now. This should be a match between two sides that are in the top part of the table. However, Tottenham are 14th while the Hammers are sitting on the 16th place of the table. Additionally, the Spurs will be coming into this one with a new coach. The highly controversial Mourinho was hired to replace Pochettino. The whole world is waiting to see what kind of performance the London side will show with their new coach. His tactical ideas are completely different to the attacking football that Tottehnam have been playing in the last couple of weeks. Saturday will show if they are going to adapt to his approach quickly or if it will take some time before the Spurs squad changes its ways.
West Ham, on the other hand, are very inconsistent this season. They had a couple of good rounds and then they ended up losing 4 matches and getting 1 draw in the last 5 rounds. At the moment, they are frighteningly close to the relegation zone and Saturday could seem them more points which will create major problems for the club.
This has always been a hard match to predict. The situations at both clubs at the moment make it even harder to get a correct prediction. West Ham have the home turf advantage while Mourinho will want to start his reign with a victory. Picking a winner would be impossible which is why we are backing an Over 2.5 Goals outcome.
Crystal Palace vs Liverpool >> click here for live odds
The Eagles are going to host Liverpool as they attempt to bring glory to London because none of the others have managed to do so this season. Chelsea, Tottenham, and Arsenal all lost to the Anfield side but now Palace have the chance to create trouble for the table leaders. They are on a bad run of 4 matches without a win. Dropping more points on Saturday will see Palace fall to the bottom part of the table. However, they have to face one of the strongest teams in the world. Liverpool have a 11 wins and 1 draw record in the league so far and they are not going to give that up easily. Especially not to a London side.
There is a chance that Salah and Robertson don’t feature in this match due to small injuries. They could play 30 minutes or so but it’s very likely that both of them won’t play 90 minutes on Saturday. This is something that Palace can take advantage of and try to stop Liverpool in their Premier League trophy bound season. Back in 2014, Palace won this fixture 3:1 and their fans will be expecting for a similar outcome.
Quality and performance wise, Liverpool are clear favorites for this fixture. However, if Klopp is forced to rotate a part of his squad because of fatique/injuries, Palace might get a chance to surprise the table leaders. For that reason, we are backing a Both Teams to Score outcome.
Manchester City vs Chelsea >> click here for live odds
Here we have the most exciting and the most important fixture of this Premier League round. Manchester City lost to Liverpool in the last round which saw them drop to the 4th position on the table, 9 points behind table leaders Liverpool. Chelsea, on the other hand, were written off before the season started. With the transfer ban and the new coach, predictions were that they will be fighting hard to reach TOP 4. However, Lampard has silenced all experts and doubters as the London side is playing their best football in years. If they manage to defeat City on Saturday, Chelsea will be making their bid for the title. If the Eagles can surprise Liverpool, the London blues could get within 5 points of the table leaders.
Nevertheless, this is easier said than done because City are strongest when they are wounded. Guardiola is not going to let his team write another defeat to their name as he surely has some joker up his sleeve. As a matter of fact, the last time this fixture was played, Chelsea went home with 6 goals behind their goalkeeper while they didn’t score a single one.
We are expecting a real battle of the titans to happen on Saturday between these sides. Chelsea will want payback for what happened last year and they could do just that because they are playing some amazing football at the moment. City, on the other hand, dropped points just last week and they will do everything in their power to stop that from happening again. We are expecting and hoping for a high scoring affair. For that reason, we are backing an Over 3.5 Goals outcome.
