The 27th matchweek is in action this weekend and the Premier League is back with their usual routine. All the teams took a bit of rest during the last two weeks and we are expecting the league to continue even stronger than before. The round will open with a fantastic fixture between Chelsea and the Spurs. Mourinho is ready to return to Stamford Bridge, the place that got him a lot of titles. Can he shock Chelsea fans or will Lampard’s squad take the spoils on Saturday? We can only wait and see the outcome. Additionally, we have the battle for the 2nd spot happening on Saturday night. The Foxes will host Manchester City in what is expected to be a fantastic match. Last but not least, we have two in-form teams in action as The Gooners square off against the Toffees on Sunday.
Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur >> click here for live odds
The squad from Stamford Bridge is on an awful downward facing spiral. With just 1 win in the last 5 rounds, the London Blues put their TOP 4 position at massive risk. The last blow came against bitter opponents Manchester United. Even though they were playing at home, Chelsea played a bad match where their attackers missed sitters. This resulted in a loss and now Tottenham are just 1 point below them. If results don’t go their way, Chelsea could fall all the way to the 6th position after this round. Lampard’s squad will want to beat their old coach as they already did once back in December. This time they are even playing at home which should give them enough of an edge to put up a strong performance. Their main attacker Abraham should be back in the squad which will give Chelsea a massive boost on Saturday.
The Spurs managed to find their form and connect 3 consecutive wins in the Premier League. With their talisman Kane out for some time, Mourinho had to find goals elsewhere and the team has been doing superbly. Korea’s Son took over the job as the main goalscorer and he is enjoying the role. For the 1st time this season, Tottenham have an opportunity to move to the TOP 4. It seems Mourinho fixed most of their squad problems as the team is trying to return to their rightful place. In the reverse fixture, Chelsea walked away with all 3 points. This time around, the Spurs are traveling to London which will make things even worse. However, Chelsea are not performing very well right now, especially if we compare them to how they played back in December. Tottenham have to use this to their advantage and get a win on Saturday.
Chelsea have a bit of an advantage because they are playing at home. However, the Spurs are performing much better than them at the moment. Additionally, they will want payback for what happened back in December. Mourinho will surely enjoy walking away from the Bridge with all 3 points. Both sides are making a lot of defensive mistakes right now. For that reason, we are backing an Over 2.75 Goals outcome.
Leicester City vs Manchester City >> click here for live odds
The Foxes have just 1 win in the last 5 rounds; however, their performances haven’t been that bad. Against the Wolves in the previous round, they showed masterclass in defense. They managed to hold them to a draw even after the Foxes went a man down. However, they need to improve their finishing as Jamie Vardy has been out of form for the last couple of weeks. Nevertheless, facing Manchester City right now might be the best for Leicester. The holding champions got banned from UEFA for breaking the Fair Play regulations. The squad is all over the place at the moment are are mentally weak. Leicester needs to use that to their advantage. Coupled with the home turf advantage, the Foxes might have enough about themselves to get a positive result on Saturday.
Guardiola squad was always fearful about the consequences of the Fair Play breach. However, they weren’t expecting such a strong punishment. They will be out of European competitions for 2 years but that’s not going to be all. There are tons of rumors surrounding them right now which claim that the team might get relegated to the 4th tier, start the season with a huge point deduction, lose all their players as free agents, and much more. Now, most of these rumors are not true; however, they are certainly affecting the mindset of the players. Guardiola needs to talk to his players are prepare them for the next match. They don’t have the luxury of thinking about these problems. Come Saturday, they are facing the Foxes while after the weekend they have an UCL fixture against Real Madrid.
Manchester City should be considered favorites for such a fixture. However, with everything that’s going on with their team, the Foxes might have an edge over them. On top of that, Leicester are playing home and last time they met them at home in the Premier League, Leicester won 2:1. It was the tie that almost costed City the title last year. For that reason, we are backing Both Teams to Score.
Arsenal vs Everton >> click here for live odds
It seems the Gooners are finally playing their type of football and getting results with it. Coach Arteta has really rejuvenated the team as they improved both offensively and defensively over the past months. Since their loss to Chelsea back in December, Arsenal have been undefeated in all competitions. In the last round they defeated Newcastle 4:0 in what was a masterclass performance in all fields. They are on their way up the table and we might even see them reach TOP 4 before the season is over. Meeting Everton right now might not be the best for them because they are also in great form. However, that’s the schedule and Arsenal have to use their home turf advantage to get all 3 points this Sunday.
The Toffees are a completely different squad under coach Ancelotti. Since his arrival, Everton have lost just 1 match in the Premier League and it was a very close affair against Manchester City. Just like Arsenal, they are slowly but surely moving up the table. What’s interesting is that the last time they met it was exactly the fixture where both sides changed their coaches. That fixture finished 0:0 as both sides were getting used to their new environment. Since then, things improved for both of them and now they meet again in a fixture that will prove which side improved the most.
Everton are the ones who arguably have the better performances. They started scoring several goals in each of their matches but their defense needs a bit of work. They are 2 points above Arsenal and with a win on Sunday, they could move to the TOP 6, if other results go their way.
Since we agreed that both teams are on the same terms, it’s hard to predict the outcome of this fixture. The teams are extremely close when it comes to goals scored/conceded as well. As a matter of fact only 2 points separate them on the table. Looking at history, Arsenal have been the more successful of the two. They have managed to win all their home matches against Everton since 2013. That’s why we are backing a Home Side Victory.
