The last International break of the year is upon us. Starting Thursday, European nations will be playing the 9th round of the European Qualifiers. These matches can bring a lot of joy for a lot of countries; however, they will bring disappointment for several of them. Below you will find previews for Thursday’s matches.
Turkey vs. Iceland >> click here for live odds
Back in June, Iceland defeated Turkey 2-1 on their home court. However, results haven’t been perfect for Iceland since then. Turkey, on the other hand, is sitting on the 1st place of the table at the moment. They need just 1 point to secure Euro qualification. Iceland will have to travel to Istanbul and win if they want to keep their hopes of qualifications alive. In the last 12 matches these sides played against each other, Iceland has gotten 8 wins and 2 draws. Turkey has won this fixture just 2 times; however, they do have home turf advantage for this one.
Iceland has to win this match to remain contenders for a Euro Cup spot. Turkey, on the other hand, needs just a point to secure qualification. Picking a winner would be very risky so we are going with a Both Teams to Score outcome.
Albania vs. Andorra >> click here for live odds
Both sides have lost their chances of qualifying for the European Cup. Albania was good in these qualifications; however, they couldn’t really compete in a group that features France, Turkey, and Iceland. Their aim will be to finish as high as possible on the table in order to secure easier competition for the next qualifications. Andorra, on the other hand, is one of the outsiders in this group. They have managed just one win so far which was against Moldova.
It’s hard to look past Albania for this fixture. They have more quality and home turf advantage. For that reason, we are backing a Home Side Victory & over 2.5 Goals.
Czech Republic vs. Kosovo >> click here for live odds
A win on Thursday will see the Czechs qualify for the European Cup. However, in the reverse fixture against Kosovo, they lost the match. Kosovo have been the surprise of this qualification cycle. If they can stun the Czech Republic away from home, Kosovo will move to the 2nd spot of the table. On the other hand, if they lose, Kosovo will lose their chances to qualify for the European Cup.
Couple of years ago, this fixture would be all about the Czech Republic. However, Kosovo has a great team at the moment and they have already showed that they can defeat the Czechs. The first match between them had 3 goals and we believe a similar outcome will happen on Thursday. That’s why; we are backing an Over 2.5 Goals outcome.
England vs. Montenegro >> click here for live odds
The visitors lost their chances for qualification a long time ago. They lost in the reverse fixture 5:1 even though they played at home. Montenegro has just 3 points so far and it turned out that they were the outsiders in the group. England, on the other hand, needs just a point to secure qualification. The same outcome will happen if Kosovo loses their match to the Czech Republic.
Montenegro has never defeated England in qualifications. The difference in quality is evident as they lost the reverse fixture 5:1. It’s hard to look past England for this one which is why we are backing a Home Side Victory & over 3.5 Goals.
France vs. Moldova >> click here for live odds
The World champions are sure of qualifying with a win against minnows Moldova. They are also through if Iceland drops points against Turkey. The reverse fixture ended with a 1:4 win for France. The quality difference between these sides is huge and Moldova is a clear underdog in this group. As a matter of fact, they are lucky to be featured in these qualifications at all.
France is a clear favorite for this fixture. If Turkey drops points against Iceland, France will grab the 1st place on the table as well. For that reason, we are backing a – 2.75 Asian Handicap.
Portugal vs. Lithuania >> click here for live odds
Lithuania is one of the worst performing teams in this qualification cycle. They have just 1 point and have been out of a chance for qualifying for a long time. Portugal, on the on the other hand, really need this win in order to stay one step ahead of Serbia who are right behind them, waiting to steal their qualification spot. If they win and Serbia drops points, Portugal will qualify for the European Cup. In the reverse fixture, Portugal won 1:5 against Lithuania and fans will expect a similar outcome.
The Portugal squad is several classes above Lithuania’s players. The difference in quality is huge which is why we can’t look past Portugal for this fixture. We are backing a Home Side Victory & over 3.5 Goals outcome.
Serbia vs. Luxembourg >> click here for live odds
Serbia is still hoping that Portugal will drop points in one of their last two games so they can qualify instead of them. As a matter of fact, Portugal will be through even if they don’t finish 2nd in the group. Winning the Nations League has guaranteed them a European Cup spot. Still, Serbia has to win the remaining matches and hope that Portugal drops points. Luxemburg is one of the outsiders in the group and in the competition so Serbia should have no problem getting all 3 points against them.
Serbia won the reverse fixture 1:3 and now they will have home turf advantage. They have more quality and they need the win which is why we are backing a Home Side Victory & over 2.5 Goals outcome.
