Champions League – Round 5 – Tuesday 26/11

Welcome to Tuesday’s fixtures of the 5th Champions League group stage round. This round will give us several derby matches which might decide the group winners at the end. Tuesday will bring us two massive fixtures; Juventus vs Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid vs PSG. These fixture are very important for all four clubs. Winning here will mean qualification for some of the clubs even before the 6th and last round comes around the corner. Below you will find previews for Tuesday’s Champions League matches.

Galatasaray vs Club Brugge KV >> click here for live odds

This is a fixture between two outsiders in Group A. Both sides will probably be fighting for the 3rd spot that leads to Europa League. Galatasaray are having a very uneventful CL group stage. They have just 1 point but what’s more worrying is that they haven’t scored a single goal in 4 rounds. Club Brugge, on the other hand are still in the running even though they managed just a draw against Galatasaray in the reverse fixture. Still, the draw they played at the Bernabeu means that if they beat Galatasaray and Real loses to PSG, there will be a chance for them to get the 2nd spot on the table in the last round.

It’s interesting how Galatasaray haven’t scored a single goal so far in the group. In the 5th round they will be facing the other “outsider” team and they should be able to score at least a goal. Brugge, however, did manage a draw against Real Madrid so they should be able to defeat Galatasaray on a good day. For that reason, we are backing a X2 Double Chance outcome.

Lokomotiv Moscow vs Bayer Leverkusen >> click here for live odds

Lokomotiv came close to stunning Juventus in both matches they played against them. The Italian side had to fight back from a deficit to win the match both at home and away. However, that wasn’t enough and Lokomotiv have just 3 points so far on the table. They got those points when they played Leverkusen away from home as they defeated the German side narrowly. Now they will play at home and their fans will hope for a similar outcome. If results go their way, Lokomotiv might stay in the race for the 2nd spot if they defeat Leverkusen on Tuesday. The German side, on the other hand, was written off before the last round since they had 0 points. However, they managed to defeat Atletico Madrid and put themselves back in the game, at least for the 3rd place which will take them to the Europa League.

Both sides have a lot to play for and Lokomotiv already showed that they can play against any side. Leverkusen are playing a little better in recent weeks so they will try to get all 3 points. We will be backing a Both Teams to Score outcome.

Atalanta vs Dinamo Zagreb >> click here for live odds

The hosts were having a very bad Champions League group stage cycle. They clearly have the quality as they are in the TOP 4 in Serie A. However, the lack of experience saw them lose the first 3 matches in the group. Then the last round came and Atalanta were a different side. They played fantastic football and managed to hold Manchester City to a draw. Even though it’s just a point, it can mean a lot because now Atalanta are still in the running for the 2nd spot of the table. Dinamo, on the other hand, had the last 16 phase in their grasp during the last round when they went 3:1 against Shakhtar in the 89th minute. However, it all collapsed on them like a house of cards because by the time the last whistle came, the match was 3:3 and Shakhtar secured a draw. This means that Dinamo Zagreb now need a positive result against Atalanta and they also have to hope that Shakhtar doesn’t take points from Manchester City.

If this match happened a couple of weeks ago, we would have given the advantage to Zagreb even though Atalanta have more quality in their squad. However, at the moment, it’s impossible to pick a winner for this fixture. Both sides will play like it’s the most important match of their lives which is why we are backing an Over 2.5 Goals outcome.

FK Crvena Zvezda vs Bayern Munich >> click here for live odds

The Serbian side entered this group as big outsiders; however, they will fight for that 3rd spot with everything they got. They have 3 points and with a positive outcome against the table leaders, Zvezda will be with one foot in the Europa League. Bayern, on the other hand, don’t have fond memories from traveling to Belgrade and playing at the “Marakana” stadium. We can say it was a different time in which Crvena Zvezda were actually Champions of Europe but still, playing at Marakana is never easy. The stadium is always full and the fans make a great atmosphere. In the reverse fixture, Bayern got a comfortable 3:0 win; however, this time around, we are expecting a tighter affair.

It’s unreasonable to believe that Zvezda could take points from Bayern. However, they showed last year that they can beat anyone when eventual Champions Liverpool succumbed to a 2:0 loss in Belgrade. Nevertheless, they were underestimated back then, something no team will do ever again. With that being said, we are expecting a Munich victory which won’t be as dominant as last time. That’s why we are backing an outcome where the Away Team Scores Under 3.0 Goals.

Juventus vs Atletico Madrid >> click here for live odds

Juventus are on top of the table and they have guaranteed themselves a spot in the last 16 phase. However, they still need points to remain 1st in the group. Their performances against Lokomotiv Moscow were awful. They won both times but only thanks to individual quality, which is why their fans were very disappointed. If they produce something similar against Atletico, “The Old Lady” will be in a lot of trouble. Losing to the Spanish side on Tuesday will mean losing the 1st spot on the table. In the reverse fixture between these sides, Juventus had a 2:0 advantage 15 minutes before the end of the match. However, Simeone’s men rallied and fought back, eventually getting a 2:2 draw. The loss in the last round against Leverkusen has put Atletico in a position where they need a positive outcome against Juventus which won’t be easy.

It’s impossible to pick a winner in a fixture like this one. Both sides want victory but both will be happy with a draw, especially Juventus. We are expecting a tactical approach where both coaches won’t want to risk losing the match. For that reason, we are backing an Under 2.5 Goals outcome.

Manchester City vs Shakhtar Donetsk >> click here for live odds

The Premier League Champions are very comfortable on the top of their CL group. As a matter of fact, they first time they dropped points happened in the last round against Atalanta. In the reverse fixture, they defeated the Ukrainian side 0:3 even though they were playing away from home. With home supporters on their side, Manchester City can get a strong win over Shakhtar. However, the Citizens are not playing their best football at the moment. They lost the derby against Liverpool which saw them drop 9 points below the table leaders. The bad results are coming mostly due to injuries but it seems the team chemistry is not where it was during the last couple of season. Shakhtar can take advantage of that and maybe steal points from City, just like they did in 2017 when they defeated the English Champions 2:1.

Manchester City are clear favorites here even though Shakhtar are the ones who are desperate for points. However, the Citizens will want to prove their dominance and show their fans that the couple of bad results they got were just a dip in their form. That’s why we are backing a – 1.75 Asian Handicap outcome for this fixture.

Real Madrid vs PSG >> click here for live odds

Here we have the most exciting match from Tuesday’s fixtures. The visitors have already qualified as they have 4 wins from the previous 4 rounds. On the other hand, Real Madrid need a positive outcome if they are to be certain of going through the group stage. In the reverse fixture, the team from Paris destroyed Madrid 0:3 so the Spanish side will certainly want a payback. The start of the season was very bad for them, mostly because of the changes to the team and with Zidane returning as coach. However, in the last couple of weeks, Madrid have been back to their usual best but they still need to prove themselves against a strong side. Facing PSG in front of their fans on Tuesday will be a perfect opportunity to do that.

PSG have been very strong this year, both in defense and offense. Their performances have been great in Ligue 1 as well as the Champions League. Madrid are going to have to play a very good match with no defensive mistakes if they are to defeat PSG on Tuesday. We are expecting a high-scoring affair which is why we are backing an Over 3.5 Goals outcome.

Tottenham vs Olympiacos Piraeus

The London side went through a lot of changes during the International Break. Just before it was over, coach Pochettino was fired and Mourinho was appointed in his place. It will be an interesting season from now on with Mourinho back in the Premier League. We all know where he goes, controversy follows; however, he is a coach that usually brings trophy’s. Tottenham won’t have time to adapt to his strategies because they are in the middle of a not so good season. They are 14th in the Premier League, 11 points below the TOP 4. On the other hand, they are doing fine in the Champions League. If we ignore the thrashing they got from Bayern, the rest of their results have been good. The Greek side needs a positive result if they are to remain in the running for a higher position on the table. In the reverse fixture, they held the Spurs to a 2:2 draw and maybe they can produce something similar.

Quality wise, Tottenham are absolute favorites for this fixture. However, their internal club turmoils are affecting their game-play. Mourinho will eventually hold all the strings but can he do it within a couple of days and get them ready for the Champions League fixture. For that reason, we are backing a Both Teams to Score outcome.
